about Debbie
I’m Debbie – proud owner of Simply Pawsome Dog and Cat Grooming Studio
I have always loved dogs – I grew up with a gorgeous Golden Retriever called Sandy, and then a Smooth Coated Blue Merle Collie called Jed – dogs have always been a big part of my life.
It wasn’t until I got my own dog when my family was young, that I considered dog grooming as a career. We found the perfect dog for our family at the Bristol Dogs and Cats Home – his name was Harvey, and he was a Yorkie crossbreed, with a long unruly coat that needed regular grooming. I took him to a local groomer, and was amazed by the transformation that she created. This began a real interest in dog grooming for me. Soon afterwards I enrolled on a 1 day course to learn how to groom Harvey myself, and I loved it! I then went on to enrol on a City and Guilds Dog Grooming course to learn how to groom professionally, and the rest, as they say, is history!!
I love working as a dog groomer – it means I am able to spend every day with dogs (a dream come true for me!), and get to know their individual characters and personalities. There is never a dull day, and there is always something new to learn. My studio is a small wooden summerhouse in my garden, with lots of windows so it’s bright and airy and the dogs can look outside. It is a calm and quiet environment, and is ideal for nervous dogs, or those that don’t like mixing with other dogs. I work on a one to one basis, unless there are dogs from the same family, and give the dogs my undivided attention. I groom each dog on an individual basis, and try to groom them at their pace i.e. if they are particularly nervous of the standard driers in the salon, I will dry them with a gentler drier that they are happy with. This can mean that sometimes it takes me a bit longer to complete a groom, but your dog is more relaxed at the end of it.
I really appreciate being trusted to look after your precious pets, and always treat them with love and care as if they were one of my own!
